It's tax time again, and one of the first questions is "where can I get tax forms online?" The good news is there are plenty of options and lots of places to get help with the forms. The first stop is always the IRS. They have every form you could need online, as well as all the tax code regulations. To start browsing these forms, visit irs.gov. You'll find federal forms, information about recent changes and plenty more. The IRS web site is a good start, but you'll also need to find your state forms. This site belongs to the Federation of Tax Administrators, and has a clickable map of the US with links to each state's tax form site or internet filing site. The tax forms can be hard to follow, and it's always helpful to have a guide to lead you through the forms step by step. There are several sites that will do this, including sites that will allow you to fill out your forms online for free, only paying a fee when it comes time to print out the final forms. Most of these sites feature easy to use online forms which will guide you through each form step by step. As you proceed, you'll be asked simple questions which the web site will use to fill in the forms for you. Once the information is completed, you'll be able to print out the forms, or e-file directly from the site. TurboTax has been the industry leading personal tax software for many years, and now you can use TurboTax online. Their web site (turbotax.com) will help you select which version is most appropriate for you, and includes all the necessary forms. H&R Block also offers a similar service, and can be accessed at hrblock.com. Both these sites offer all the forms you'll need, including both federal and state forms. You should keep in mind that tax regulations are frequently updated, even after January 1st of the year. So make sure you check back in case any updated forms are posted.
